This is the Giant Anteater (Myrmecophaga tridactyla) from South America,
found mostly on grassy plains. There are two more species of anteater
in South America Tamandua (Tamandua tetradactyla) and Silky Pigmy Anteater
(Cyclopus didactylus) which are primarily tree-dwellers

In Australia you have the Echidna which is also known as the Spiny Anteater
(an egg-laying mammal) and a Marsupial Anteater which is called like that
when translating from dutch, english name is Numbat if I remember well
(not certain on that). The true anteaters are those from South America
in my opinion, but there are more animals eating ants. All of those actually
eat termites just as well or even more.

found this site checking my reply
http://www.utoronto.ca/forest/termite/eaters.htm
actually, there seem to be 3 species of tamandua
but they are very similar I suppose.
And I was right about the Numbat
