Madagascan sunset moth (Chrysiridia rhipheus)

The shape and brilliant colours of this day-flying moth give it a striking resemblance to a swallowtail butterfly. The caterpillar's habit of eating poisonous plants and the bright colours of the adult indicate that the Madagascan sunset moth may contain poisons. Victorians used its multi-coloured wings to make jewellery.
