The silver hake, Atlantic hake or New England hake, Merluccius bilinearis, is a merluccid hake of the genus Merluccius, found in the north west Atlantic Ocean from Maryland to the Newfoundland Banks, at depths of between 55 and 900 m. Its length is about 30 in (75 cm).

The silver hake weighs up to 5 lb (2.3 kg). It has a brown coloration with some silvery iridescence fading into pure silver on the belly. It also has 5-7 dark, irregular, vertical bars. It is usually found on or near the bottom in deep water on the continental shelf.

It has a good flavor, but the taste deteriorates rapidly after being caught, and is not a sport fish. It is usually only taken as a bycatch of commercial fisheries.
