A *bunch* of lions coming up. Needless to say,
lions are the favorites of most safari guides, so
one sees a lot of them. Or at least, one takes
many pictures of them.

The ones in cages are again at the Nairobi
Wild Animal Orphanage. 440 is a black-maned
lion there. Their manes get darker as they get
older.

434 is one of a number of lionesses watching
a pack of nearby gazelle. They decided not
to waste energy trying to catch any.

456 shows the typical effect of seeing a lion:
sudden masses of safari vehicles clustering around,
sometimes so close together the lions
have trouble getting out of the circle.

Two more full sets of random lions coming up,
then a few chases and some tree-climbing lions.

Kenya and Tanzania, Summer 2000.
Scanned from 6x4 prints of 35mm film
with a not-too-good scanner.
Released to the Public Domain,
but I would appriciate hearing about
commercial use of the photos.
