Animal photos from California - Okapi in San Diego Zoo - many more to come - attn. Protozoa lovers

Hi everybody,

sorry for my being absent for some time. I have just returned from a
holiday trip to San Diego, California. In fact, this has been my first
visit to the United States, and I enjoyed it very much. During my stay,
of course, I had no time to monitor the SPAM activities in this NG; I
shall resume my activities as to this point by now.

Moreover, I have brought about 50 animal photos - San Diego Zoo, Sea
World and some Wildlife shots - from my trip to California which I
intend to share with everybody here, along with a lot of other animal
shots which I have taken over the years in zoological gardens. I did not
post them yet because the scanner I used provided insufficient image
reproduction especially of the darker colours; I have now got a new
scanner which seems to do a lot better, allowing me to scan my animal
shots and bring them to you with sufficient quality. Nevertheless, I
shall restrict my postings to a few shots a week because most of them
will do better with some digital re-processing which I have to spend
some time on. Each shot shall be JPEG compressed to about 200k in size
and about 500 Megapixel (such as 700 x 700 or 1000 x 500) in resolution.

Finally, I intend to post the last one or two shots of the Protozoa
series I posted earlier. This may take some more time because I want you
to know some essentials about the organisms pictured; I have to get some
books and look these facts up which I have no time to do at the moment

I have no interest in any copyright stuff about my pictures, so feel
free to share them with everybody you wish to, download them, apply
digital imaging effects to them - whatever you want. If there is
anything special you want about a particular shot - such as a fixed size
copy for a wallpaper - do not hesitate to e-mail me.

But that's enough talking - here comes the first shot featuring two
Okapi in San Diego Zoo.

Take care

Ralf

Interesting photograph. The okapi is truly a magnificent creature. The striped legs are fascinating.

Looks like the parents were confused as to which species they belonged. A short-legged giraffe zebra?
