What is this fish?

I caught this fish on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas September 20, 2009. My family thought it was a baby gar since there is a school of them that come around every morning and evening by our place. But after researching on the internet, I am thinking it is NOT a baby gar. I didn't think so to begin with since it does not have a long beaky nose and not teeth. I have caught a baby gar before and it did not look like this!

What is it?

It is a logperch. It is in the same family with walley and sauger and a larger group of fish called darters. There are many species of darters found throughout the US and a wide variety of species in the Ozarks. Logperch are larger than darters and the one you caught is toward the top end for length
