Oriental Ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus LATHAM / Threskiornithidae), at Daejeon Zooland, Korea
Black-headed Ibis (Threskiornis melanocephalus) is a species of wading bird of the ibis family Threskiornithidae, which breeds in South Asia and Southeast Asia from Pakistan to India, Sri Lanka east up to Japan. It builds a stick nest in a tree and lays 2-4 eggs.

【특징】 길게 아래로 휘어진 검은색의 부리를 갖고 있다. 머리와 윗목은 검은색이다. 몸은 흰색이고 다리는 검은색이다. 날 때는 목을 곧게 편다. 소택지와 호수 등지의 얕은 물 속을 거닐면서 긴 부리를 물이나 진흙 속에 넣어 채식한다. 번식 생태에 대해서는 알려져 있지 않다. 울음소리는 '부우-' 하고 낮은 소리로 우는 것 같다. 먹이는 어류, 개구리, 조개류, 곤충류 등이다. 인도, 중국, 한국, 일본, 대만 등지에 분포한다.
【현황】 우리 나라에서는 미조이며, 제주도에서 1982년 11월 2일 하도리 양어장에서 1개체가 월동한 것이 처음이다. |
