A large and stocky rat with enlarged incisor, and head-to-body length exceeding 300 mm. The pelage is blackish or blackish brown with a profusion of whitish hairs intermixed with many long black hairs above, and paler below. The profile of face is deep and squared-off in front. The incisor teeth are board and yellow in colour. The tail is shorter than the head-to-body length. |
