While pythons undoubtedly hold the crown for the largest and most famous constricting snakes of Indonesia, a single genus of boas also occurs in the rainforests of the eastern archipelago. Often overlooked, the Pacific keel-scaled boa (Candoia carinata) seldom exceeds a meter in length. It is an ambush predator of frogs and lizards, and like other boas, bears live young rather than laying eggs. |
