American Kestrel, also known as a Sparrow Hawk { Falco sparverius}
This one loks like a male.

The name Sparrow Hawk should not be used as it is
the name of a number of other hawks, notably
the Northern Sparrow Hawk (Accipiter nisus),
which in Europe is generally known as just "Sparrow Hawk".
There are major differences between falcons and hawks
and the American Kestrel (like all kestrels) feeds mainly=20
on mice, although in winter it also feeds on birds.
