Here are the pics grossly enlarged to show how the colouring follows the
same pattern as the normal bird. I have never seen this sort of colour
deviation ever, in the thousands of these I have seen in my lifetime. Very
strange...

This is very interesting, I've never seen or heard of anything like this
either. Do you think it might be a cross? Here in Sherbrooke Forest I have
seen a rosella which looks like a cross between an Eastern and Crimson. But
for something to look like that "Galah" in your photo one of its parents
must have been a chockatoo or something really strange. If there weren't so
many of the blighters I'd also suggest in-breeding.

After some brief googling I found some references to unusual hybridisation,
particularly among the cockatiel community.
The Nottles
I found one site that said galahs will crossbreed, esp. with sulphur crested
cockatoos, so I am wondering if it mightn't have come from a cross with a
black cockatoo... Betty
