The Spilopelia senegalensis, commonly known as the Laughing Dove, is a small, long-tailed dove species. It's characterized by its pinkish-brown underparts, lilac-tinged head and neck, and a distinctive black and rufous-spotted collar. These doves are known for their soft, repetitive "coo-coo-coo-ru" call, which can sound like a gentle laugh. They are found in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and parts of the Indian Subcontinent, often inhabiting human-modified landscapes like gardens, plantations, and urban areas.

Laughing Dove (Streptopelia senegalensis) is a small pigeon which is a resident breeding bird in the tropics in Africa south of the Sahara, the Middle East and southern Asia east to India. In India it is also known as the Little Brown Dove. Probably as the result of stowaways from Africa or India, the bird is also found in a localised area of Western Australia - in and around Perth and Fremantle. |
