Sabre wasp (Rhyssa persuasoria)


The large sabre wasp, Rhyssa persuasoria, uses its long ovipositor to deposit eggs inside the bodies of sawfly larvae. The female wasp first locates the sawfly larvae within the wood and then drills a hole through the wood to reach the larvae.
