Barn owls have adapted to the loss of suitable nest sites in the countryside by moving into barns and farm outhouses. Here, they can nest undisturbed and sheltered from the elements. At dusk, the birds emerge to wing their way silently across the fields and around the farm buildings in search of prey, such as voles and mice. |
