White-winged becard in Suriname
Photo of a white-winged becard, made by Foek Chin Joe in the
North of Paramaribo (tourtonne) in May 2005. This is quite a
common bird in the coastal region, in mangroves, plantations and
gardens. It seems to like to build its nest near a wasp nest,
acoording to Franois Haverschmidt. Its
sound
was recorded in Paramaribo
by Ottema.
Each small square indicates the observation in Suriname of at
least one (group) of these birds, the medium ones at least 4
observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more.
The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow
for savanna and red for rainforest.
