Bateleur eagle (Terathopius ecaudatus)
The bateleur eagle ranges widely over Africa in open country, wheeling and gliding at speeds of 55-80km per hour, with barely a flap of its long wings. As it flies, it scans the grasslands below in search of carrion, rodents, tortoises and venomous snakes. |
