Red deer, largest British deer, with a body length of up to 2.2m and a height of up to 1.5m at the shoulder. It has a reddish-brown coat in the summer but a thicker darker winter coat. Its preferred habitat is a large deciduous wood. Family Cervidae; species Cervus elaphus. |
