The snow leopard is a rare and elusive predator of the Himalayas and other Central Asian mountains. It hunts high above the treeline in summer, ambushing birds and mammals up to the size of tahrs. Its thick fur keeps out the cold, and the pale colouration of the hair provides it with excellent camouflage against the rocks and the snow. |
