A gorgeous snake native to southern China and Burma area, It is mostly nocturnal and is extremely secretive. For the most part, they are very nervous and do not like to be disturbed. They seem to like much cooler conditions than most ratsnakes, due to their high elevations and cool, humid environment up in the mountains. Wild-caught imported individuals usually do not do well in captivity and soon die, due to heavy parasite loads, and very high stress factor. Only recently available to the pet trade, captive-bred specimens command a high price.
