Pogonornis bidentatus - double-toothed barbet

The double-toothed barbet ( Pogonornis bidentatus ) is a colorful bird with a large ivory-colored bill. It belongs to the family Lybiidae, which includes other African barbets. It is found in various habitats across sub-Saharan Africa, from Angola to Ethiopia. It feeds on fruits and insects, and often nests in holes in trees. It has a distinctive call that sounds like a fast, dry trill or a raspy “crick”.
