This group of waterfowl are so named because it feeds mainly on invertebrates
and plant matter by swimming, or grazing and do not dive. They walk well
on land and some species feed mostly on land.

Northern Shoveler (Anas clypeata)
Northern Shovelers have huge long and broad bills. The tip resembles a spoon
or a shovel. They feed by sifting in shallow water for aquatic plants, mollusks
and crustaceans. Shovelers are not very winter hardy and will need protection
from extreme cold conditions.
