1 COLOMBIAN SISKIN. Chrysomitris colombiana. == Spinus psaltria colombianus (lesser goldfinch)

The lesser goldfinch (Spinus psaltria) is a very small songbird of the Americas. As is the case for all three New World goldfinches (and some of their siskin relatives), lesser goldfinch males have a black forehead, which females lack. Male goldfinches in this species vary strikingly in back color across their range, from green in western North America to black from Texas south to South America. Five subspecies are often recognized. Spinus psaltria colombianus is found in south Mexico to Peru and Venezuela. Order: Passeriformes > Family: Fringillidae > Subfamily: Carduelinae > Genus: Spinus > Species: Spinus psaltria > Synonyms: Fringilla psaltria (protonym); Carduelis psaltria; Astragalinus psaltria

2. HOODED SISKIN. Chrysomitris cucullata. == Spinus cucullatus (red siskin)

The red siskin (Spinus cucullatus) is a small endangered finch native to tropical South America - in northern Colombia, northern Venezuela and Guyana. The red siskin is found in open country, forest edges and grassland with trees or shrubs. The female is believed to lay three greenish-white eggs in a grassy cup nest in a tree. Order: Passeriformes > Family: Fringillidae > Subfamily: Carduelinae > Genus: Spinus > Species: Spinus cucullatus > Synonyms: Carduelis cucullata; Sporagra cucullata
