The Malabar trogon is a medium-sized bird with a length of approximately 33 to 38 centimetres. It has a distinctive and colourful plumage. The male has a deep blue head, upperparts and breast, with a black mask around the eyes and a bright red underside. The wings are black with white markings. The female has a brownish plumage with white spots and lacks the bright colours of the male. |
