The ladder snake (Rhinechis scalaris) is a species of snake in the Colubridae family. It is found in peninsular Spain and Minorca, Portugal, southern France and possibly the region of Liguria and Italy. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, temperate shrubland, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, arable land, pastureland, plantations , and rural gardens. It is threatened by habitat loss.
