CERULEAN WARBLER
Dendroica cerulea

STATUS:
Once a common sight in the forests of the eastern United States, the cerulean warbler is vanishing at an alarming rate. Since 1966 its numbers have declined by 70 percent, due primarily to habitat fragmentation and destruction in both its breeding and winter ranges. In October 2000, 28 conservation organizations, including Defenders of Wildlife, petitioned the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list this species as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. To date, the Service has not taken any action.

For Korean: 솔새의 일종으로 미국에서는 서식지가 줄어들면서 점차 사라져가는 새의 하나라고 합니다. 예전에 동물그림창고에서 이 새의 이름을 "청솔새"로 번역한 적이 있군요.
