Ringneck pheasants often feed in farmland, but seek the cover of hedgerows and thick undergrowth as soon as the farmer appears. The pheasants roost at night in the safety of trees, and therefore require plenty of vegetation around the field borders if they are to survive on agricultural land. Many farmers keep parts of their land wild, so that they have a ready supply of pheasants to shoot. |
