Although it may look endearing, in many, countries the European wild rabbit is a serious agricultural pest. Introduced to Australia and New Zealand in the nineteenth century, it colonized vast areas of sheep pasture, reducing much to semi-desert, and ruining the livelihoods of many sheep farmers. |
