Tristram's Storm-petrel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Order: Procellariiformes
Family: Hydrobatidae
[Photo] Tristam's Storm-petrel Oceanodroma tristrami at Tern Island, French Frigate Shoals. This chick was about 4 days away from fledging. It was part of a study, one of the first for the species, into the breeding biology of this poorly known seabird. My impression of them, having previously banded Ashy and Leach's Storm Petrels, was that these guys were huge, righly as big as the Bulwer's Petrels that also nested on Tern.
