Gaur, species of wild cattle found in forested hilly country in India and Malaysia. Gaurs, also called seladangs, are black in colour with a white "sock" on each leg. An adult bull may grow up to 3.8m long and weigh more than a tonne. Gaurs range in small herds, feeding in the morning and evening. Family Bovidae; species Bos gaurus. |
