히말라야원숭이 Macaca mulatta
짧은꼬리원숭이류에 딸린 동물. 몸길이 45~65cm, 꼬리 20~30cm쯤이며 털은 갈색인데 배쪽은 색깔이 엷다. 얼굴과 엉덩이에는 털이 없으며 다 자란 개체는 붉은색을 띤다. 숲 속에 떼를 지어 살며 과실, 곤충 따위를 먹는다. 이 원숭이의 혈액은 의학 실험용으로 쓰인다.
