What is this MOTH?
Saw this moth today, July 6, 2010, perched on our chives in our vegetable garden in
Newport Beach, CA. I have never seen anything like this. Does anyone know what it
is?

My best guess is Achemon Sphinx Moth (Eumorpha achemon). The Achemon sphinx (Eumorpha achemon) is a moth of the Sphingidae family. It lives broadly across the United States and down into Mexico. Larvae are known to feed on virginia creeper. |
