reserve, a part of the extended CSNR reserve in Suriname, August
2004. The bird is common in the undergrowth of wet places, often
in wasteland. The nest is a big ball of fine sticks with a narrow
entrance. But not narrow enough to prevent a brood parasite as
big as the
striped cuckoo
to lay her
egg in the nest. The young of the spinetail then has no chance.
