Dusky-throated antshrike, Thamnomanes ardesiacus in Suriname
Photo of a male dusky-throated antshrike made by Brian O'Shea
in the Ralleigh Falls nature reserve in 2002. The male is totally
blue-grey with a black throat and lighter underparts. The female
is more brown-yellow. It is common in the forests of the interior
of Suriname, where you regularly can hear the
sound of this antshrike
, recorded
by Otte Ottema near the Coesewijne.
Each small square indicates the observation of at least one
(group) of these birds in Surinam, the medium ones at least 4
observations on different days and the largest ones 10 or more.
The color of each square indicates: blue for coastal area, yellow
for savanna and red for rainforest.
