Floating at the surface and supported by a bladder of gas, the Portuguese
man-of-war is a colony of individuals each doing a particular job; there are
those that catch food, others that digest it, some to keep the colony afloat,
and yet others that look after reproduction. The food catchers have tentacles
trailing 30ft (10m) below the bladder and they can deliver a toxin chemically
similar to the venom of a cobra.

From 'Hunters of the Wild' by Michael Bright subtitled 'hunting animals and
their strategies'.

The Atlantic Portuguese man o' war (Physalia physalis), also known as the man-of-war, blue bottle, or floating terror, is a marine hydrozoan of the family Physaliidae found in the Atlantic Ocean, as well as the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

Portuguese Man O' War (Physalia physalis), also known as the bluebubble, bluebottle or the man-of-war, is commonly thought of as a jellyfish but is actually a siphonophore—a colony of specialized polyps and medusoids.
