Firefish
The body is elongated, rounded toward the front and compressed toward the rear, The snout is short and the eyes are large. The mouth is wide and features a great many teeth, including large canines. There are two dorsal fins: the first has very long erect anterior rays; the second which is shorter, is symmetrical and opposed to the anal fin. The caudal fin is broad and rounded. The ventral fins are separate. The coloration is light, with yellow highlights on the forward part; red with black-striped fins in the rear part. This species is territorial, and lives in dens dug in to the sand, where the fish take shelter when threatened. They grow to be seven centimeters.
