Sea cliffs provide ideal nesting sites for birds such as the peregrine falcon, which usually inhabits mountainous areas. The narrow ledges are often quite inaccessible to ground predators and are invisible from the land, enabling the birds to raise their young without human interference. Much of their prey consists of birds killed on the wing, but peregrines also attack wading birds. |
