Wavy volute (Amoria undulata)

One third of the world's species of volutes live in Australian waters. Wavy volutes are the most common shallow-water volute species in southeastern Australia. They appear to live in deeper water in the north of their range, but in the south can be found in the intertidal zone. Juveniles hatch from their eggs already well developed and crawl away. Like all volutes, this species is a carnivore, mostly hunting other sea snails.
