Bird ID?
This bird has been pecking at my office French doors and perching on the outside handle for days. I read that they see their reflection, think it's another bird and want to get rid of it, this being mating season. Anyway, my husband took a picture of it. We live in Washington State, the San Juan Islands. I have a field guide and thought it was probably some kind of sparrow but then saw a picture of a merlin that looked just like it. This bird is small though, 6" at most. Does anyone know what it is?
