No other bird of prey hunts in quite the same way as the secretary bird. Specialized for hunting on the grasslands, the bird strides over the ground with its long legs, striking with its beak at almost any small creature it disturbs from the grass. It can even tackle venomous snakes, but avoids the danger of a bite to its head by subduing the prey with blows from its feet. |
