This morning I heard the beautiful carolling of magpies in the street, but
it was interspersed with horrible wailing and screeching, so I went out to
investigate. I found a gang of 3 magpies (I guess our resident family)
attacking another one. I would guess it is a juvenile male whose time has
come to move on, or an interloper in their territory. The racket has been
going on all day and I have tried to rescue the underdog a couple of times
but it is too quick. Whenever it leaves cover the others are on it in a
flash even if I am near. Some of the pics aren't very good, but considering
the windy overcast day it was the best I could get. Notice the magpie
hiding in the top right hand corner of this pic.
