Dusky Moorhen
Size: 40-45cm
Habitat: The Dusky Moorhens range covers the eastern half and extreme southwest of the Australian mainland. They live around freshwater lakes, creeks, swamps and are often seen in city ponds and lakes. They feed on vegetation in surrounding areas.
Notes: Head is dark with bright red shield extended from the top of the beak which has a yellow tip. Body is very dark all over white feathers under tail. Breeds end Autumn-Summer.
