Atlantic tarpons migrate to coastal areas to spawn, and the young (or fry) remain in shallow water in swampy areas, including swamps and shallow lagoons, until they have completed their metamorphosis into mature adults. The gleaming silver scales of the adults are sometimes used to make unusual jewellery. |
