A small Murray cod from a run in an upland river.
Image URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Small_Murray_cod.JPG
This small Murray cod was caught in a run in an upland river, on a lure equipped with barbless hooks. It was carefully released after the photo.
The red spots on the lower gill cover and dorsal spines are infestations of Lernaea (aka "anchor worm"), an introduced skin parasite that now infest Murray cod and cause them serious health problems. Codman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Codman) 09:50, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
