Addax, type of antelope found in the deserts of N Africa. Noted for its long, twisting horns, the addax usually runs in herds of 5-20 animals, led by an old male. Heavily built and comparatively slow, it is becoming rare because of overhunting. Family Bovidae; species Addax nasomaculatus. |
