Description
Table Of Contents: Early in this century, the delicate snowy egret was reduced nearly to extinction in North America by plume hunters who sought the lacy plumes, or aigrettes, for millinery trade. Now a protected species like all our herons, snowy egrets are again common in the warmer parts of the U.S. Snowny egrets often f ind food by sprinting about in shallow water, causing small fish to dart out from concealment. The birght yellow toes, when raked slowly through the water, are believed to attract fish.
Abstract: Snow white heron with slender black bill, yellow eyes, black legs and bright yellow feet.
