Coyote (Canis latrans)
The coyote has proven so hardy and adaptable that it has survived several deliberate extermination attempts by humans. Its broad diet is one reason for its success - it eats almost anything, from fruit to prey the size of pronghorn. Although the coyote usually hunts on land, it does not hesitate to enter water, where it preys on aquatic birds. |
