Agkistrodon piscivorus leucostoma is a venomous pit viper subspecies found in the south central United States. It is the smallest of the three subspecies and tends to be darker in color. Common names: western cottonmouth, water moccasin, cottonmouth. Order: Squamata, Suborder: Serpentes, Family: Viperidae, Genus: Agkistrodon, Subspecies: Agkistrodon piscivorus leucostoma (Troost, 1836).
