Binturong, mammal of the civet family, also related to mongooses. It lives in the forests of SE Asia, spending much of its time in trees, eating their fruits and leaves. It has a shaggy black coat and grows to approx. 1.7m (5.6ft) long, including a bushy prehensile tail of almost half this length. Family Viverridae; species Arctictis binturong. |
