The archer fish lives in mangrove swamps from India to northern Australia. It
knocks insect from branches by spitting at them. The refraction of light is
compensated for by the fish positioning itself directly below the target. It is
accurate up to 5ft (1.5m). Insects close to the water are grabbed when the fish
simply jumps out of the water.

From 'Hunters of the Wild' by Michael Bright subtitled 'hunting animals and
their strategies'.
