California souvenirs continued after scanner recalibration - Muntjac in SD Zoo
Hi again,
Finally, I have had the time to do some recalibration of my scanner. I
have done some gamma curve adjustment which, now, on my monitor makes
the colours look much more natural without needing substantial
after-scan correction. The advantage is that my scanner uses 36 bits of
colour for adjusting whereas my software only does 24 bit colour depth.
Therefore, I want to leave as much correction as possible to my scanner
which should do significantly better than the software, especially if
high contrasts are involved.
I have already posted some "high contrast" shots which I think of
reposting after having scanned them with the new parameters.
The following photo is the first one that was done with the new
calibration curves. It shows a Muntjac deer I photographed in October
1998 in San Diego Zoo.
Greetings from Germany -
Ralf
